UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Global is an initiative launched in 2012 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon aiming to mobilize scientific knowledge and innovation to find solutions to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

SDSN’s mission is to promote and support the implementation of SDG at local, national and global levels. SDSN works with partners from academia, government, the business world, civil society and the United Nations (UN) to foster and find practical solutions and transformations necessary for sustainable development. This purpose is supported by scientific knowledge transfer and innovation from universities and other knowledge-producing institutions around the world for solutions with an effective impact on sustainable development. Spanning six continents, the SDSN network comprises over 1,900 member institutions, primarily universities, coordinated by 55 National and Regional Networks.

SDSN Portugal was approved by the SDSN Strategic Council on June 7, 2023 and was launched on November 2 with the presence of the Vice-President of SDSN Global, Maria Cortes Puch. SDSN Portugal aims to mobilize universities, research centers and other knowledge networks and units, civil society organizations and companies to create synergies to promote transformative solutions that accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement.
