Peter Schmidt
Since 2014 he has been a member of Group II (Workers) of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). From 2015 to March 2018, he was president of the EESC’s Permanent Study Group on Sustainable Food Systems. From April 2018 to September 2020, he was president of the EESC’s Sustainable Development Observatory. Since October 2020, Peter has been President of the EESC NAT Section, responsible for Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. Peter Schmidt was rapporteur for several EESC opinions related to sustainable food systems, in particular the most recent one on food speculation.
